Works on Paper

Nature is so beautiful. This Downy Woodpecker appeared outside my window, so I had to draw him. I am working on a series of small pastels on paper.

High school art is in full swing. I have many talented students this year.

Children's illustration

Had a discussion with an art director from California. She thought my strongest illustration work was done in pencil. I do enjoy realism.

This is another piece in progress. Hopefully,
I am getting closer to finding my niche.

Painting progress

This day I used a 1" round foliage brush. I think it helped. I am still working a lot on the likeness of my Dad. So many of the old photos look washed out...trying to enhance the range of value.

Posting

It seems to me that painting daily is easier than posting daily. I need to make it a habit. I added some subtle color to this but still want a retro hand-tinted look.

Painting progress

Started painting today and laying in the values. This will be mostly neutral in color to give the feel of a retro photo.
